All Country Music is Not Bad, and Here’s Why
Not All Country Music is Bad and Here’s Why
‘Kickin my dog on my tractor in my big ol truck, blah blah something about a Bud Light, Yeeee Hawwwww’.
Whatever. Its easy to poke fun at, but let’s be serious.
Music is music. Plain and simple. Of course, in every genre there are some bad eggs, however those bad eggs shouldn’t take away from the rest of the art presented to us. As music lovers we shouldn’t restrict ourselves to a certain genre, or restrict ourselves from a certain genre. However, it’s totally natural to have preference towards one or another.
A problem we face in today’s age is there are so many different outlets to find new music, so many artists, and most of us stick to maybe just the one or two we are most comfortable with. There are thousands of options out there, such as music platforms (Spotify, Apple Music, public radio), blogs, and of course the side bar on YouTube. But for music lovers like ourselves are we really digging deep enough to find what’s really available to us?
Personally, I am a sucker for anything that sounds catchy, across multiple genres. When I was younger it seemed like I was worried about what my friends and other people thought about me when it came to music taste, and everything else, really. But the older I get the less that really mattered to me.
Most folks who claim to hate country music probably haven’t taken the time to listen to it, aside from what we might hear on public radio. Similar to any other genre you might normally listen to, take in to consideration there are unknown country artists out there who deserve more credit then they are given. One artist in particular, is an artist named Mark Leach. He’s from right here in Akron, Ohio. A link to one of his videos is below. (I’ll also share my top 3 favorite country songs of all time)
This article isn’t to convince or sway anybody to listen to country music. If it ain’t your thing, it ain’t your thing. But maybe we should all take a step back and try to dive into different music outlets. You never know what hidden gem is out there waiting for you. (Which is why I am happy to be writing for Song Plug)!
