Lizzo Should Be Your New Fave
If you haven't listened to Lizzo's latest hits; “Juice,” “Cuz I Love You,” and “Tempo” featuring Missy Elliot, you're doing life wrong. I'm not kidding, you're severly missing out. She has everything one could hope for in an artist; she's an excellent vocalist, her songs are empowering, her music videos are stunning, she plays a mean flute, and her Instagram is filled with the greatest booty pics you'll ever see. She's a powerhouse, and 2019 is gonna be her year.
Lizzo started her music career rapping at the age of fourteen, and she's been grinding ever since. She's released music both as herself, and as part of a handful of different groups. To date she's released two studio albums and one ep, and on Friday April 19th, her third studio album “Cuz I Love You” will debut.
The music video for “Juice” is the first music video I watched at the beginning of 2019, and I have no regrets. I can think of no greater music video to start my year with. It gets better with every viewing, and each time I watch it is more fun than the last. The song is fantastic, Lizzo is adorable, and the video is scene after scene of 80's greatness. And, if the music video isn't enough for you, her performance of the track on Ellen will be. Once you think her performance couldn't get any better, she's presented with a flute and starts playing it like it's easy. And if you've ever tried making a wind instrument sound good, you'll know it's definitely not easy.
Lizzo's second music video of 2019 shares a name with her upcoming album, “Cuz I Luv You,” and it is flawless. Her vocals transcendental, the song is relatable, the visuals are beautiful, and Lizzo looks stunning, as always. I knew she was talented, but when I first saw this video, I decided she was legendary.
The third and latest video Lizzo has released this year is called “Tempo,” and it features the goddess of rap herself, Missy Elliot. One can never go wrong with a Missy Elliot feature, and if you disagree, you can kindly leave the planet. The video is strictly an audio track, but I'm hoping they'll release a music video. Because the track is outstanding. It's upbeat, it's fun, it's different from the other two songs she's released so far, and the lyrics are terrific. Go listen for yourself and try to tell me you don't love this song.
Just writing this article in anticipation has me pumped. I absolutely can not wait for “Cuz I Love You” to drop on Friday. It's one of the albums I'm most looking forward to in 2019, because Lizzo is my new fave, and she should be yours too.
